On Thursday 12th October 2023, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Republic of Seychelles H.E. Mr. Wael M. Nasr El-Din M. Attiya paid a Courtesy Call on the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Gervais Henrie. Accompanying the Deputy Speaker was the Clerk of the National Assembly Mrs. Tania Isaac.

The Ambassador, who is based in Nairobi, Kenya, expressed his gratefulness for this visit and for the opportunity to strengthen the relations between Egypt and Seychelles. H.E. Attiya discussed the importance of educational and vocational opportunities between the two countries, noting that the exchange of expertise and resources would provide the prospect of partnerships and development. The Ambassador noted that the number of Seychelles beneficiaries to educational courses in Egypt has fallen recently and emphasized the need to reinvigorate the national interest and resolve any logistical issues preventing the transfer of visitors. A point was made regarding trade links and export infrastructure, with the Ambassador remarking that agricultural development is a very important mutual area of interest for the two countries.

Hon. Henrie responded in kind, emphasizing the importance of educational opportunities for Seychellois citizens and of the exchanges in technical knowledge and research that could benefit both Egypt and Seychelles. The relevance of cultural and sports related exchanges was also noted for future discussion. The Deputy Speaker also remarked on continually improving the bilateral relations between Egypt and Seychelles and developing more capacity-building interactions in the future.

Both the Deputy Speaker and the Ambassador then concluded the meeting by presenting one another with symbolic tokens of appreciation and wishing well for the future of Egypt-Seychelles relations.
