During the First Trimester of the National Assembly’s Calendar of Sittings for the year 2025, the Scrutiny of Bills Committee met with the Sponsors of two important Bills. The first was a Public Bill titled the Seychelles Made Bill, 2025, and the second was a Member’s Bill titled the Public Persons (Declaration of Assets, Liabilities, and Business Interests) (Amendment) Member’s Bill, 2025.

The Committee is led by Chairperson Hon. Clifford Andre, who is supported by Vice-Chairperson Hon. John Hoareau, and other members Hon. Gervais Henrie, Hon. Sathya Naidu, Hon. Churchill Gill, Hon. Johan Loze, and Hon. Rocky Uranie. Assistance is provided by the Clerk of the National Assembly Mrs. Tania Isaac, Committee Secretary Ms. Brigitte Contoret, and Assistant Committee Secretary Ms. Lucy Michel.

The first meeting was concerned with the Seychelles Made Bill, 2025 (Bill No.1) which was tabled in the House on Wednesday 2nd of April 2025. The Sponsors before the Committee were the Minister for Investment, Entrepreneurship and Industry Mrs. Devika Vidot, Principal Secretary Mr. Michael Nalletamby, Policy Analyst Mr. Maxime Valentin, Chief Executive Officer of the Enterprise Seychelles Agency Ms. Lisa Lautoy, and Legal Draftsperson of the Attorney General’s Chamber Mrs. Julia Jean. The Bill was then approved by the Assembly, as amended.

The second meeting was concerned with the Public Persons (Declaration of Assets, Liabilities, and Business Interests) (Amendment) Member’s Bill, 2025 (Private Member’s Bill No.1 of 2025) which was tabled in the House on Wednesday 16th of April 2025. The Sponsor before the Committee was a Member of the Assembly, Leader of the Opposition Hon. Sebastien Pillay. The Bill was not approved by the Assembly following extensive debates in the House.
