Creating healthy, supportive work environments is essential for sustaining productivity, comfort, and long term wellbeing. On Thursday 7th May 2026, the National Assembly of Seychelles hosted an ergonomics training session that brought together staff and Honourable Members to explore how intentional posture, proper support, and everyday habits play a critical role in protecting the body.

Ergonomic posture is more than just “sitting correctly.” It is about aligning the body in ways that reduce unnecessary strain on muscles and joints while supporting natural movement. Proper seating, including chairs with effective lumbar support, helps maintain the spine’s natural curve, reduces fatigue, and minimises the risk of musculoskeletal injuries.

Experienced training facilitators from the Physiotherapy Unit guided participants through practical explanations and demonstrations, translating ergonomic principles into everyday actions. From adjusting seating positions to understanding proper desk setup and movement breaks, the session focused on simple, actionable strategies that can be applied immediately in the workplace.
