On the morning of Saturday 23rd May 2026, the National Assembly of Seychelles, in collaboration with the High Commission of India to Seychelles, hosted a yoga session on the National Assembly precinct in commemoration of International Yoga Day, which is celebrated annually on 21st June.

The activity formed part of a broader initiative by the High Commission of India to promote the importance and benefits of yoga across Seychelles. The High Commission has been engaging with schools and various entities to raise awareness on yoga as a practice that supports physical health, mental well-being, and cultural exchange.

The session brought together 15 participants, including the leadership of the National Assembly namely the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Leader of the Opposition, Leader of Government Business and Deputy Clerk and other Members of the National Assembly. The High Commissioner of India to Seychelles was also in attendance, alongside participants invited by the High Commission.

The session was led by Ms. Rose-May Payette, who guided participants through a series of yoga practices focused on relaxation, mindfulness, balance, flexibility, and overall well-being. The activity provided Members and participants with an opportunity to engage in a wellness-focused exercise aimed at promoting both physical and mental health.

At the end of the session the Members of the National Assembly expressed their appreciation to the High Commission of India for the collaboration and for continuing to promote initiatives that encourage wellness, mindfulness, and stronger people-to-people relations.
