On Wednesday 20th May 2026, the Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta to Seychelles H.E. Mr. Alessandro Azaïs Tatistcheff, paid a Courtesy Call on the Speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Azarel Ernesta.
The meeting began with welcoming remarks by Hon. Ernesta, followed by introductions from the Ambassador. Mr. Azaïs Tatistcheff explained that he intends to continue the work undertaken by his mother, former Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta to Seychelles, Mrs. Francesca Alexandra Azaïs. The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange briefly on the history of relations between Seychelles and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, as well as on the unique role and work internationally. The Ambassador further shared reflections on his visit to Seychelles thus far.
Discussions then turned to the longstanding contributions of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in Seychelles, particularly in the health sector. Hon. Ernesta highlighted the possibility of establishing a new committee within the National Assembly with a specific focus on health, which would further strengthen engagement with the Ministry of Health and other relevant partners. The meeting also touched on key social issues, including matters relating to drug use and its wider impact on society.
Following the insightful exchange, the Ambassador and the Speaker exchanged tokens of appreciation. Hon. Ernesta also conveyed her best wishes to H.E. Mr. Azaïs Tatistcheff for a successful tenure as Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta to Seychelles.
