On Saturday 21st March 2026, the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) of the National Assembly, chaired by Hon. Audrey Vidot, successfully hosted a vibrant and engaging “Women Entrepreneurs’ Bazaar” at Maison Marengo, Au Cap, as part of its activities commemorating International Women’s Day 2026. Present at the event were all Members of the WPC, Ministers, and the support staff of the Parliamentary Service.
The Bazaar brought together an assortment of women entrepreneurs from across Seychelles who had the opportunity to showcase locally made crafts and unique handmade products. The event served as a platform that highlighted the depth of creativity, refined skills, and a wealth of entrepreneurial knowledge among the women business owners. Fundamentally, the WPC served in strengthening community support for locally produced goods, and the artisanal collective. A highlight of the event was a poetry showcase featuring a reading by Hon. Balisa‑Lepathy of a poem by celebrated Seychellois poet Marie Clarisse.
Ms. Clarisse’s work reflected on a period in Seychellois society when women played a central role in supporting their communities, a message that Chairperson Hon. Vidot noted aligned closely with the International Women’s Day 2026 theme, “Give to Gain”. In line with this, Ms. Clarisse also gifted two paintings to the National Assembly, through the WPC. Local poet Ms. Loua Barra also presented an original piece titled “Fanm”, contributing to the cultural significance of the occasion.
Through the organisation of this event, the WPC showcased its commitment to empowering women and promoting the equal and active participation of women in the economy. Invitees, including the Speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Azarel Ernesta, had the opportunity to meet creators, learn about their crafts, and celebrate their contributions.
The Members of the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus express their sincere appreciation to all entrepreneurs, partners, and members of the public who supported the event and contributed to its success.
