On the morning of Friday 26th December 2025, the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to the Seychelles H.E Mrs. Iraida de la Caridad Guerrero Zúñiga paid a Courtesy Call on the Speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Azarel Ernesta.
The meeting began with the Speaker Ernesta warmly welcoming the newly appointed Ambassador to her mandate in Seychelles. In turn, the Ambassador congratulated the Speaker on her recent appointment as Presiding Officer, marking a milestone in Seychelles’ history. Discussions turned to the longstanding positive relations between the two nations, with ongoing opportunities to strengthen parliamentary cooperation. The Hon. Speaker emphasised the realisation of a future capacity-building initiative, which could serve to bolster the capabilities of the Legislature, Membership and Service Staff.
They also spoke extensively about the sustained number of Seychellois students living and studying in Cuba, as well as Cuban professionals working in Seychelles, noting that the diplomatic relations of both nations remained steadfast and connected through cultural and professional exchanges.
The fruitful meeting concluded with an exchange of tokens of appreciation and heartfelt wishes for the year ahead.
