On the afternoon of Wednesday 10th December 2025, the Defence and Security Committee convened to take the Oath of Secrecy, in the presence of the Speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Azarel Ernesta. In line with the Seychelles Intelligence Service Act, 2018 and the Committee’s Terms of Reference, Members and supporting staff must subscribe to an oath or solemn affirmation of secrecy before the Committee may commence its proceedings.

The Oath of Secrecy affirms that all Committee Members and Committee Clerks shall not divulge, directly or indirectly, any matters brought before the Committee, including all information encountered while accompanying the Committee on official visits and during meetings. They further pledged to uphold the Committee’s Terms of Reference by maintaining strict confidentiality over all matters entrusted to them under secrecy.

The Defence and Security Committee oversees the Seychelles People’s Defence Force, the Seychelles Police, and all Government Agencies responsible for national security, including intelligence services. The Committee’s role includes maintaining close collaboration with national security bodies, scrutinising their budget allocations, consulting on their development plans, and receiving relevant reports.
