On the morning of Friday 21st November 2025, a delegation from the Chinese Embassy in Seychelles led by Chargé d’Affaires Mr. Mu Jianfeng, paid a Courtesy Call on the Leader of Government Business Hon. Sylvanne Lemiel.

The meeting commenced with Counsellor Mu extending congratulations to Hon. Lemiel on her recent election as Leader of Government Business, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to meet. Hon. Lemiel highlighted the longstanding collaboration between Seychelles and China, affirming her commitment to strengthening this partnership in her dual capacity as Leader of Government Business and Directly Elected Member for Anse Royale. The discussion touched on the Seychelles-China Parliamentary Friendship Group established in early 2024 and the exchanges that have taken place between the National Assembly and representatives of the National People's Congress (NPC).

Hon. Lemiel warmly acknowledged the Embassy’s historic contributions to Anse Royale, including support in the construction of the Anse Royale Hospital, the University of Seychelles Anse Royale Campus, and the local playground. She noted that the playground, originally donated by the Embassy, has been closed for several years due to disrepair. The highlight of the Courtesy Call was the presentation of a cheque by Counsellor Mu amounting to SCR150,000 aimed at funding the playground’s refurbishment. On behalf of the Chinese Embassy, the strong relationship with the Anse Royale community and the readiness to support initiatives that benefit residents was reaffirmed.

Hon. Lemiel, in her capacity as MNA of Anse Royale, accepted the financial contribution with thanks expressing that the funds would directly contribute to bringing joy and community spirit back to Anse Royale through an extensive renovation project. The fruitful meeting then concluded with a souvenir photograph and an acknowledgement of the sustained friendship between China and Seychelles.
