On the afternoon of Thursday 20th November 2025, the Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta to Seychelles H.E. Mrs. Francesca Azaïs paid a Courtesy Call on the Speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Azarel Ernesta.
Ambassador Azaïs conveyed heartfelt congratulations on behalf of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, expressing her privilege in meeting the newly elected Speaker of the 8th Assembly. She reaffirmed the Order’s longstanding partnership with Seychelles, and the National Assembly, and committed to strengthening this relationship through sustained support for legislative initiatives and community-focused programmes. She emphasised that her government’s core aspirations, aligned with her mission in Seychelles, centred on the delivery of support and social assistance, with a particular focus on strengthening healthcare services and addressing the needs of under-represented segments of society. Hon. Ernesta emphasized that these initiatives resonate strongly with the priorities of her Office, particularly her commitment to advancing the representation and protection of children both within parliamentary spaces and across broader societal frameworks. The Speaker highlighted the potential for meaningful collaboration between the Ambassador and the National Assembly, particularly through joint initiatives and engagements with the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus (WPC), whose mandate focuses on advancing equality and legislation for women, children, and other vulnerable groups within our society.
Before the meeting concluded, Ambassador Azaïs presented a token of appreciation to the Hon. Speaker of a collection of her artworks depicting Seychelles. The Hon. Speaker expressed her gratitude and commended the Ambassador on her numerous artistic contributions to Seychelles which have been impactful and integral to our cultural development and heritage. The meeting then came to a close with a souvenir photograph.
