The exhibition also celebrates the 32nd anniversary of parliament, as a powerful reminder of the strides made in strengthening the democratic journey of our nation. This momentous occasion was highly attended by both past and presently serving Members, Parliamentary Staff and Young Members of the PRJOI.

Speaker Hon. Roger Mancienne

Making opening remarks was the Speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Roger Mancienne, in which he remarked that our democracy has evolved to a point where today it is “strong, stable, and capable of supporting a well-functioning nation”. Hon. Mancienne emphasised the importance of a strong legislature, which is able to adapt and progress to meet the growing needs of the people, as well as serve as the forum for political discourse.

LGB Hon. Bernard Georges

Following his remarks were interventions made by the Leader of Government Business (LGB) Hon. Bernard Georges and Chief Whip of United Seychelles Hon. Sylvanne Lemiel. They spoke on the legislative strides made by the National Assembly and the role of parliament in holding the Executive accountable over the past 5 years. Both the LGB and Chief Whip expressed their thanks to their fellow Honourable Members, both past and presently serving, for their contributions to the achievements and successes of the 7th Assembly. A special mention was also given to Parliamentary Staff for their dedication and service in maintaining parliament and ensuring its smooth functioning.
