The Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Roger Mancienne accompanied by the Clerk, Mrs. Tania Isaac met with the Auditor General, Mr. Gamini Herath this morning. Mr. Herath had the honour to present a copy of the Report of the Auditor General for the year 2020.
This act was done as part of his Constitutional duty and is stated in Article 158 (5) which dictates that ‘The Auditor-General shall, within twelve months of the end of the immediately preceding financial year, submit the report referred to in clause (3) to the National Assembly and shall in that report draw attention to irregularities in the accounts audited and to any other matter which in the opinion of the Auditor-General ought to be brought to the notice of the Assembly.’
The Speaker thanked Mr. Herath for his work and for presenting this document to the National Assembly and wished him well for the year ahead.
