The Honourable Member Mr. Rocky Uranie was born on the 28th of July 1975 and was a dedicated teacher by profession. His foundational education began at the Polytechnic School of Education and Community Studies, where he trained to become a Mathematics, Science and Creole Teacher for the Upper Primary Education Level. With further experience and a desire to continue developing in his career, Hon. Uranie earned the position of Head of the Mathematics and Science Department at the La Digue Secondary School, and taught Mathematics at the Secondary Education Level.
In 2005, Hon. Uranie chose to expand his horizons by studying Computing, achieving the certification “Master Trainer (ICT)”. This qualification authorised him to begin training teachers and educators on how to utilise computers and software. On a part-time basis, Hon. Uranie also lectured and taught at the Adult Learning and Distance Education Centre (ALDEC), as well as the Seychelles Tourism Academy (STA). Hon. Uranie also had the opportunity for international exposure through participation in the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Youth Invitation Program, which aims at fostering mutual understanding, cultural exchanges, and human resource development.
During the 2020 elections, Hon. Uranie successfully secured the seat for the La Digue and Inner Islands District. During the 7th Assembly, Hon. Uranie was a Member of the Committee on Government Assurances (COGA), the House Committee, and the Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resources Committee of the SADC Parliamentary Forum.
Hon. Uranie was sworn in as a Member of the 8th Assembly on Tuesday 28th of October 2025, for his second parliamentary mandate.
