The Honourable Member Mr. Keneth Athanase was born on the 22nd of September 1981 and resides in Perseverance with his wife and three boys. Hailing from Praslin, Hon. Athanase began his schooling career in Praslin Primary and Secondary School, before moving to Mahe and enrolling in the National Youth Service (NYS) from 1997 to 1998.
After the completion of his education, Hon. Athanase pursued a career in security and law enforcement, starting as Chief Security Officer at Labriz Sihouette before officially joining the Seychelles Police Force in 2011. Working as a Constable for two years, Hon. Athanase pursued training to enhance his skills in combat and defence, safety precautions, weapon handling, and tactical field training. He was then transferred to the Department of Prison where he occupied the post of Prison Officer. His career then changed direction as he joined the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority, where he was employed as an Aviation Officer for 5 years. During this time, Hon. Athanase again pursued training and received certifications in Aviation Security and Facilitation (AVSEC) from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). His final career change before entering parliament was in his role as Assistant Enforcement Officer of the Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and Climate Change from 2019 to 2024.
Despite having no formal role in politics, Hon. Athanase began his community service and activism as a Church leader who gave counsel and assisted his constituency. Through his steady presence in the community, he eventually seized the opportunity to represent Perseverance and stand as a Member of the Assembly.
Hon. Athanase was sworn in as a Member of the 8th Assembly on Tuesday 28th of October 2025, for his first parliamentary mandate.
