The Honourable Member Mr. Jean Toussaint was born on the 28th of September 1969 and was raised in Anse Boileau. Hailing from a large family, Hon. Toussaint honours the values of patience, sharing, compromise, and honesty which were passed down from his parents. He is now a resident of Perseverance and has one son.
His education began at St. Mary’s School, Anse Boileau, where he credits the teachers for imparting a love of learning and responsibility for the community. From 1985 to 1986, Hon. Toussaint was enrolled in the National Youth Service (NYS), followed by studies of Humanities and Science at Seychelles Polytechnic. In 1990, he completed a year at the Seychelles Media School which led to his first employment venture at the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) as a radio producer. In 1995, Hon. Toussaint travelled to the BBC Bush House in London to pursue further studies in Media and Communications and continue perfecting his craft.
Following his expansive stint in the national media, Hon. Toussaint changed careers and joined the Seychelles Police Force, where he remained for 21 years until April 2023. During this time, he served the community and ensured transparency in the operations of the Police Force, eventually becoming the Officer in Charge of Public Relations and Corporate Image. In August 2023, with the continued ambition to serve his community and give back to his constituency, he made the decision to join politics and stand as the candidate for Anse Boileau under the United Seychelles Party.
Hon. Toussaint was sworn in as a Member of the 8th Assembly on Tuesday 28th of October 2025, for his first parliamentary mandate.
"I come to Parliament not with all the answers, but with a lifetime of experience listening to our people, serving our communities, and working for a better Seychelles. Together, we will face our challenges and seize our opportunities. Together, we will build the future our children deserve."
