The Honourable Member Mr. Gervais Henrie was born on the 12th of January 1972. Hon. Henrie is an award-winning journalist with over 30 years’ experience in radio, television, print and online journalism.

He began his career with the public broadcaster the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC), where he dedicated his energy as a seasoned news journalist, Radio Producer, and TV Presenter for 15 years. He also served as a Correspondent for the Rhodes University-based news agency, Highway Africa News Agency (HANA) in South Africa, specialising in ICT reporting. In September 2011, Hon. Henrie founded his own weekly publication, ‘Le Seychellois Hebdo’, a political newspaper which reported on local political and financial analysis, social commentary, and cultural pieces aimed at informing the general public.

He first served as a Proportionately Elected Member for the Seychelles National Party (SNP), in the 4th National Assembly of Seychelles, which was in session from 2007 to 2011. In September 2016, he successfully secured a seat as the elected Member the Mont Buxton District under the Linyon Demokratik Seselwa Party (LDS). In the 6th Assembly, Hon. Henrie served as the Chairperson of the Committee on Government Assurances (COGA), and as a Member of the Media, Youth, Sports and Culture Committee (MYSCC). In October 2020, he was successfully re-elected under the LDS Party and was subsequently elected at the Deputy Speaker. In this capacity, Hon. Henrie led the Assembly and served as Chairperson of the Standing Orders Committee and served as a Member of the Scrutiny of Bills Committee. In addition to his expertise in the media profession, Hon. Henrie has a keen interest in reading, travelling, hiking, and the arts.

Hon. Henrie was sworn in as a Proportionate Member of the 8th Assembly on Tuesday 28th of October 2025, for his fourth parliamentary mandate.
