The Honourable Member Mr. Andy Labonte was born on the 27th of April 1981 and has been a lifelong resident of English River. Hon. Labonte embodies the values of unity spirituality, and tolerance, carrying with him a mindset of working together to achieve a common goal.
His education culminated in the achievement of “Best Overall Student” and a graduation with Credit from the Seychelles Hospitality and Tourism Training College (SHTTC), where he specialised in Food and Beverage (F&B). He then began his professional career in 2001, where he honed his skills and held a variety of managerial positions in several luxury hotel establishments both nationally and abroad. Remaining active in the tourism industry, Hon. Labonte also operated as a taxi driver for a decade. This experience brought him closer to the people, exposing him to different demographics and citizens of all walks of life.
In his pursuit of community service, Hon. Labonte accrued years of experience working directly with the youth through engagements such as the role of Peer Counsellor, working his way up to becoming the Central Regional Commissioner for the Scouts in 2014. His journey in politics has been relatively new-found, with his personal interest stemming from a desire to be a voice for the people. During the 7th Assembly, Hon. Labonte was a Member of the Standing Orders Committee, the Communicable Diseases, HIV/AIDS, and SRHR Committee, and the House Committee. He was awarded the Africa Outstanding Leadership Award on Community Development, during the 2nd Africa Education Summit.
Hon. Labonte was sworn in as a Member of the 8th Assembly on Tuesday 28th of October 2025, for his second parliamentary mandate. He is a Member of the Global Equality Caucus, Parliamentarians for Global Action (PGA), and the Eastern and Southern Africa Parliamentary Caucus for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Sustainable Development (ESAParC).
