A team of officials from the Ministry of Fisheries and Blue Economy met with Members of the National Assembly on Thursday 30th September 2021 to engage and promote discussions on the Fisheries Transparency Initiative (FiTI).

The meeting involved a presentation and update on the FiTI and the 1st report that was finalized by Seychelles. The presentation provided information on key questions regarding Seychelles’ fisheries including its sustainable management, government earnings from fisheries resources and the industry’s contribution to national food security.

The discussions were fruitful and also revolved around establishing international opportunities for Seychelles in forums such as the Open Government Partnership (OGP) and the Inter-Parliamentary Union. The Honourable Members actively engaged in the discussions and all present were eager for further extensive and comprehensive collaboration in the future.

The officials from the Ministry who met with the Members were, Mr. Sven Biermann, Mr. Will May, Mr. Philippe Michaud, Dr. Jude Bijoux, Dr. Ameer Ebrahim and Ms. Fatime Kante.
