On the morning of Tuesday 23rd January 2024, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission Mr. Danny Lucas presented the Recommendation for Delimitation of Electoral Boundaries Exercise for 2023 - 2024 to the Speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Roger Mancienne. Mr. Lucas was accompanied by Chief Electoral Officer Mrs. Manuella Amesbury, Commissioner Mrs. Wendy Didon, and Commissioner Mrs. Veronique Bonnelame-Alcindor.

The Hon. Speaker welcomed Mr. Lucas and his delegation, noting that this was a highly anticipated meeting and thanked them for the direct presentation of the report. Mr. Lucas began by detailing the process of planning and preparation, including the creation of the Delimitation Committee. This committee was tasked with conducting extensive research into the universal standards used in boundary delimitation and in-depth consultations with citizens and all related stakeholders into the cultural and socioeconomic contexts of each electoral district. Mr. Lucas remarked that the involvement of District Administrators across the country was very high and there was a positive degree of cooperation in the numerous site visits and discussions that took place.

Mrs. Amesbury commented that the committee was an intensely dedicated team who concentrated their efforts on ensuring best practices were used throughout the creation of the report, and that engagement with vital stakeholders was a top priority. Hon. Speaker Mancienne responded that public understanding of such issues as electoral boundary delimitation is essential and commended the dedication of the committee. The Speaker also noted that the Electoral Commission has a Constitutional responsibility to ensure that this process is conducted in a transparent and comprehensible way.
