From the 26th to the 30th of October 2023, a Seychelles parliamentary delegation was represented at the 11th International Parliamentary Games (IPG) held in Moscow, Russia. The delegation was comprised of Hon. Michel Roucou, Hon. Wilbert Herminie, and Ms. Samia Lebon.

The IPG is an event designed to bridge states, governments, and people through friendship and light-hearted competition. The IPG provided the space for Parliamentary diplomacy and frank dialogues to take place in a more amicable atmosphere, where good health was also being actively promoted. In participation were 12 countries, namely: Russia, Belarus, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Haiti, China (Hong Kong), South Sudan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, South Africa, Malawi, and of course Seychelles.

The programme consisted of different sporting events, such as Mini-Football, Golf, Table Tennis, Chess, Tennis, and Badminton, of which all delegates were invited to take part. The Seychelles delegation had the pleasure of participating in the Mini-Football, as well as the Badminton tournament where Hon. Roucou proudly took 3rd place.  

 

The delegation also had the pleasure to meet with Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports Mr. Dmitry Aleksandrovich Svishchev, where various discussions took place regarding the status of sports in Seychelles.

Despite the cold weather, the delegation noted that the event was well-coordinated and that the Seychelles flag was represented enthusiastically throughout the IPG.
