On the afternoon of Friday 25th August 2023, the Ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of Seychelles, H.E. Mr. Henry Jardine, paid a Courtesy Call on the Chairperson of the Defence and Security Committee (DSC) Hon. Clifford Andre. H.E. Jardine was accompanied by the Charge D’Affaires for the US Embassy in Seychelles Mr. James Donegan. Hon. Andre was assisted by the DSC Secretary Mrs. Gillian Samson, and Public Relations & Protocol Manager Ms. Angelique Hill.

H.E. Jardine is visiting Seychelles as part of the US Aquaculture Workshop in which aquaculture related businesses and developments were being discussed and showcased, such as the ongoing fish farming industry. As well as looking into the diversification and development of such businesses, the Ambassador informed Hon. Andre that efforts to improve the ease of access for Seychellois to enter the US were in progress, with continued cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Hon. Andre thanked H.E. Jardine for his visit and remarked that the US has remained one of the top jurisdictions in the provision of strategic advice and guidance, as well as training opportunities. The DSC welcomes all forms of assistance in the domain of protection, with Hon. Andre noting that future educational opportunities for the National Assembly would happily be established.

The meeting ended with both parties ultimately reaffirming the levels of cooperation and interaction between the United States and Seychelles, with hopes to see this relationship continue to flourish.
