The President of the Republic of Rwanda, H.E Mr. Paul Kagame addressed the National Assembly at 1500hrs today, Wednesday 28th June 2023.  

 

 

H.E. Kagame was welcomed at the parliamentary building by the Speaker of the National Assembly of Seychelles Hon. Roger Mancienne after which met briefly in a courtesy call. Hon. Mancienne presented a token of appreciation to President Kagame.

 

 

The President began by extending his appreciation and pleasure to attend the Independence Day Celebrations, taking place on Thursday 29th June 2023. It was noted that national celebrations, especially those of independence and liberation, represent a transformation and renewal of a country. H.E. Kagame remarked that the Seychelles and Rwanda share a sense of democratic freedom and progress.

 

 

An honourable mention was made to the socioeconomic development as well as the efforts taken to address climate change in Seychelles.

 

 

President Kagame then reaffirmed the need to prepare, as a continent, for unforeseen circumstances through improved interconnectedness of all African nations. The importance of maintaining peace and security by improving regional integration and partnerships was well noted.

 

 

The Leader of the Opposition Hon. Sebastien Pillay, and the Leader of Government Business Hon. Bernard Georges, both responded to the Address.
