For the first time in history, to crown the celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the National Assembly of Seychelles this year, the Parliament has been officially opened by the Speaker, Hon. Roger Mancienne.

 

 

The Speaker led the ceremonial procession to mark the commencement of the 2023 Meeting of the Legislature. The highlight of the ceremony was the Speaker’s Moment of Reflection and the unveiling of the newly renovated chamber to the public. Hon. Mancienne dedicated a special moment of thanks to Secretariat staff for their hard work and support during the intense period of renovation, and a special thanks to Members of the Assembly for their support.

During the ceremony, a new Member was welcomed to the 7th Assembly. Replacing Mr. Paul Ernesta is the new Proportionately Elected Member for United Seychelles, Mr. Wilbert Herminie. The swearing in of Hon. Herminie was done in accordance with Article 81 of the Constitution.

 

 

To conclude the ceremony, the Speaker invited all Members and staff of the Secretariat to be present as he and the Clerk, Mrs. Tania Isaac, unveiled a plaque commemorating the first reopening of the National Assembly.

 

 

The ceremony took place at 1500hrs and was both filmed and streamed live on SBC, TeleSesel and the National Assembly YouTube Channel.
