The International Affairs Committee (IAC), chaired by Hon. Waven William met with a high-level delegation from the Rostov-on-Dov City Administration led by Mr. Yury Ovchinnikov, Deputy Head of the City Administration, who was also accompanied by H.E. Mr Artem Kozhin, the Ambassador of Russia to Seychelles.

The Meeting taking Place

Hon. William thanked the delegation for the long standing diplomatic relations between the two countries and welcomed the visiting officials to the National Assembly. Ambassador Kozhin apprised the IAC on the purpose of the delegations working visit to Seychelles and highlighted the signing of the city twinning agreement between Victoria and Rostov-on-Dov. His Excellency also explained the extended areas of collaboration that agreement will provide especially in improving municipal infrastructure. In addition, Mr. Yury Ovchinnikov spoke on the possibilities of further co-operation in the field of sports as well as highlighted the stronghold of the city in the field of agriculture and digital technology.

Other Officials in the Meeting

Both Hon. William and the other Members of IAC present discussed the potential to further strengthen parliamentary exchanges and relations between the two parliaments of Seychelles and Russia, as well as extending the participation of Parliamentarians in areas of common interests that will benefit Seychelles.

Mr. Yury Ovchinnikov was accompanied by Mr. Alexander Ponomarev, Rostov-on-Don City Council Member, Mrs. Maria Krylosova, Head of External Relations Division of the Rostov-on-Don City Administration, Mr. Maksim Matasov, Counsellor at the Embassy of the Russian Federation and Mr. Dmitry Kislov, Honorary Consul of Seychelles in Moscow.

Other Members also present to the meeting were, Hon. Wavel Woodcock, Vice-Chairperson, Hon. Kelly Samynadin, Hon. Philip Monthy and Hon. Philip Arissol.
