The Defence and Security Committee chaired by Hon. Clifford Andre, continued with its calendar of activities for the last quarter of 2021. Thursday 4th November 2021 involved a visit to the Financial Crime Investigation Unit (FCIU) at Perseverance to discuss their composition, challenges they are facing, future plans and to obtain support in terms of resources required to forge the way forward to deliver on their mandate.

In view of the sensitivity of the role of the FCIU another meeting is being planned by the Committee to further discuss in detail the needs of the Unit especially in respect of the incoming Budget that will soon be coming before the National Assembly later on this month.

The Committee was led by the Vice-Chairperson, Hon. Francois Adelaide, of whom was accompanied by Hon. Michel Roucou, Hon. Doyace Porice and Hon. Audrey Vidot. The Members were welcomed by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ted Barbe, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ron Bonnelame, Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Francis Songoire, as well as as Staff of FCIU.
