On the occasion of the International Day of Peace, today, 21st September 2021, the Defence and Security Committee of the National Assembly join hands with the President, H.E Mr. Wavel Ramkalawan and the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ted Barbe in wishing first, the Seychellois People and secondly the Seychelles Police Force and all Law Enforcement Units, a Happy International Peace Day. As we celebrate this day as a peaceful Nation we seriously need to reflect on the importance of peace and together see how best we can promote such sentiment for love within all structures of our society necessary for the prosperity of our people.

This goes well with the United Nation theme of “Recovering better for a sustainable and Equitable World”, especially in these times of the Covid 19 whereby so much pain has been endured through the loss of lives and economic difficulties at all levels and how dependent we must be on each other should we want to make it through and survive this pandemic.

This togetherness in peace is the only unquestionable way of bringing much harmony amongst our people and prosperity for our beloved country, Seychelles. Coincidently, as it is also the Seychelles Police Day, we call on the Seychelles Police Force which has a significant role in establishing a climate of peace, to ensure that the foundation of Law and Order is maintained, through the highest professionalism. Their exemplary service of spreading peace and love will no doubt contribute immensely in educating and fulfilling the desirable peaceful reconciliation of the people of Seychelles.

Again, happy International Peace Day. God bless our country.
