Hon. Desheila Bastienne is a 58 years old, proud mother of 4 children who has lived in various district across Mahe, including St Louis, Beau Vallon and Mont Buxton. She has always had a strong desire to be involved in politics from a very young age She was very active with the Opposition party that was known as the Seychelles National Party (SNP).
As a young girl she attended the St Paul’s Girls and Boys primary school and went on to study at the Victoria Junior Secondary School, Senior Secondary School and the Seychelles Polytechnic School.
She then started her professional career as a Supply Teacher for the Ministry of Education and then moved on to work as a Receptionist for Aubrege Club Des Seychelles and Auberge Louis X11, and also as a Supervisor at the Seychelles Credit Union.
Hon. Bastienne has followed specialised courses in Customer Service with the Barclays Bank and Supervisory Skills and Good Leadership with the Guy Morel Institute Seychelles.
In 2017, she chaired the Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS) Women's Association, a platform that empowers and supports women in society.
Hon. Bastienne is the elected Member for the district of Perseverance of the 7th National Assembly. She is also Member of the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus and the Committee on Government Assurances.
