Constitutional Provisions for the setting up of Committees
Article 104 of the Constitution provides for the setting up of two
Standing Committees- the Finance and Public Accounts Committee and
the Standing Orders Committee. The National Assembly also has an
International Affairs Committee- the IAC.
Article 104 of the Constitution also makes provisions for the creation of other
select Committees.

Composition of Committees
The composition of
the Committees of the National Assembly reflects the political party
spread in the National Assembly itself. Committees are comprised of
7 Members, at present, this being 5 from the Ruling Party and 2 from
the Opposition. The Committees are thus, bipartisan and works on a
non partisan basis. After Members are elected to Committees, the
Committee Members elect from amongst themselves, a Committee
Chairman.
